A dedicated platform page and inclusion in editorial and programmatic surfacing.
A founding cohort for an artist-centered generative studio.
ij8 is inviting 10–15 established generative artists to help shape a comprehensive creative environment for image, video, 3D, code, apps, and emerging modes of AI-assisted production.
The premise
Most AI tools flatten practice into prompt throughput. ij8 is being built in the opposite direction: from the working methods, constraints, authorship models, and distribution realities of serious artists.
Founding artists receive full platform access and direct influence over the studio’s toolmaking priorities. The intention is not to extract style or audience. It is to build durable creative infrastructure with artists who have already done the work of defining the field.
The offer
Gallery releases on the artist’s cadence and terms, supported by the platform’s minting infrastructure.
Full access, at no cost, to all platform tooling for image, video, 3D, code, and apps.
Artist-specific tools developed around an individual practice, not a generalized productivity template.
If an originating artist’s bespoke tool is later released to other users, the artist participates when downstream users employ it in their own collections.
No fees. No equity request. Founding participation is the relationship.
What ij8 is building
A web-based generative creative studio spanning multiple media and distribution paths.
Sound and word are intentionally named as planned work, not shipped capability.
Roadmap without theater
- Now
Gallery releases, minting, artist pages, Ethereum deployment, royalty-aware contracts.
- In progress
AI-augmented studio modules for visual, spatial, computational, and application-based work.
- Next
Multi-chain infrastructure, sound, language, richer classroom and cohort support.
- Beyond NFT
Translation of digital work into fabrication, objects, environments, and game-ready assets.
Who is behind it
Ira Greenberg
Founder / Artist
Artist, educator, and founder working across studio practice, creative computation, and institutional program building.
Danielle King
Advisor / Distinguished Inaugural Artist
Artist, writer, and curator whose practice and leadership sit inside contemporary AI, collecting, and digital-art culture.
John F. Simon Jr.
Advisor / Distinguished Inaugural Artist
Software-art pioneer working with custom code, systems, color, and form across screen-based and material practice.
Short descriptors are intentionally conservative and should be reviewed by the founders against preferred public bios.
Working principles
- Practice first
Tools should adapt to the artist’s methods, not the other way around.
- Authorship remains legible
The system is judged by whether it preserves decision-making, provenance, and constraint.
- Distribution is part of the work
Release mechanics, fabrication, editions, royalties, and future pipelines are creative concerns.
